So this evening while I was delivering a power-point presentation to the parents to make sure that they all had the information regarding the kit (and cake) that their scout needs to bring to camp, the Scouts were all outside pitching a patrol tent, we have a young troop and some of our young people have never been involved with scouting before, let alone pitched a tent, so it was vital that we showed them how to do it so this evening was a bit of back to basics, our scout leader Jason still prefers patrol tents as they are by far the easiest tent to pitch, (if done right) and will withstand most weathers, so for our first camp of this year it be a weekend of basics......this includes pitching tents, cooking and fire building, all really important stuff that every scout should be able to do. We mentioned to the parents that we would really like to do an international camp, and I will be finding out more details about this in the coming weeks, we are opening this up to all scouts so will be doing some fundraising to allow this to happen. so watch this space.........
